Holly Hunter is an American actress and producer well recognized for her high-quality performance in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. Holly Hunter has won numerous awards, including an Oscar for her movie Piano. She began her career as an actress on Broadway and Off Broadway. Since her childhood she's always been enthusiastic in the field of acting. She was Helen Keller as a fifth-grade student in a school production. She was born deaf in the one ear due to mumps but did not allow this handicap to hinder the determination of her to become an actor. At college, she was a theatre student as well as later moving from Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania to New York City in pursuit of her dream. Hunter made her Broadway debut after a chance encounter and Beth Henley, a playwright. Together, they wrote in Broadway Crimes of the Heart. After she was settled in Los Angeles, she began to look for film roles. Her first film role was as an actress supporting the main character in Swing Shift. Over the past three decades Holly Hunter has been on numerous TV shows and films. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and she also received the Women in Film Lucy Award.
