Holly Hunter is an American actress and producer well recognized by her highly commendable performances in movies such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. The film Piano won her an Oscar. The talented actress began her acting career on the stage with an array of Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. Enthusiastic about acting from her school days she played Helen Keller in a play in the fifth grade. The actress was deaf in one ear due to the mumps virus, however she did not permit this to deter her desire to be an actress. While in college, she studied drama, she moved into New York City with her goals to achieve them. After a casual encounter, she was stuck in an elevator with writer Beth Henley and the two joined forces to create the play 'The Broadway Crimes of the Heart' which became Hunter's debut. Hunter made the move to Los Angeles and tried to land movie roles. In Swing Shift, she landed the role of a back-up. In the three decades since she was a part of the film, Holly Hunter has been in many films, series and television films. Holly Hunter won a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as well as an award called the Women in Film Lucy Award.
